In my opinion, the best thing about the mortgage business is being able to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
I spent over 8 years working in social services for families with the State of Illinois. I really enjoyed helping people. However, I found that despite many positive changes, if tight budgets, debt, spending and credit issues weren't resolved, there was a continuing danger for the family with lots of stress that often drove the families apart. Parents working extra hours or even extra jobs meant too little time with the family. Too little time being a Mom and Dad. Too little time being a couple. I wanted to change that too!

I have helped 546 families (so far) buy homes or refinance their homes. Some were able to dig their way out of what had seemed an impossible predicament and overcame some bad habits in the process. Many times families returned their budgets to full health with a savings account, monthly savings on the house and the overall monthly budget. I've helped families straighten out the wrinkles in their financial and credit histories and get ahead, instead of just paying the bills. They can even “envision” a time that they can drop the 2nd job all together and spend more time with their families.

With a permanent shift in their relationship to money and debt, the improvements last a lifetime. They’ll save money on many major purchases because they now qualify for lower credit card rates, lower insurance rates and lower auto loan and mortgage rates. I really consider it the best part of the mortgage process!

Testimonials

Last year, around this time, I was coming out of a hole dug by 8 months of unemployment. I was not badly in debt, but enough, and looking to refinance. Somehow I met up with Curt Biggs online. He offered sound advice and encouraging words, however I had a friend who was a mortgage broker and went with loyalty. Through that friend, I acquired a 5 year ARM option loan that allowed me to pay interest only (the absolute minimum payment). After only one year of those payments, I began to feel as if I was merely renting my house. Plus, I had several home improvement needs crop up, as they always seem to do, at the same time. Since I was less than satisfied that my friend had actually looked out for my best interests, I once again contacted Curt.

He asked all necessary, pertinent questions, analyzed my situation, and came up with several viable options for me to research and examine. In addition, he also provided guidance on how to solve some of my home improvement issues. The more we communicated, the more confident I became. We closed a couple weeks ago.

I have been a single-mom-homeowner for over 12 years. It has never been easy, and likely may never be, but I can say that I feel really good about this transaction founded through Curt. He acted in a professional, informative, well educated, sincere manner. It is clear that Curt really enjoys his job because he truly believes that he is helping others. His sincerity is apparent and appreciated.

I believe that Curt guided me to the best decision for my situation, and it is now I'm back on track toward paying my house off, I have the cash I wanted for home improvement and Curt arranged for some cash that I will keep in savings.
He became a friend when I though he was just a mortgage guy; A great mortgage guy, but still...
I enthusiastically recommend Curt's services to my acquaintances, friends and family!

It's hard to find words that would even begin to thank you enough for how thoughtful you've been. We would like to sincerely thank you for your time, your effort and your excellent service. We really appreciate the help, the advice and the options that you provided.

We've worked with others in the past. They basically said here's the deal, take it or leave it. It was so nice that you let us know that we had options and to have them explained to us so we could compare our choices for our best short and long term benefit. The simple truth is, it really is simply smarter mortgage planning, just like you said!

We highly recommend your services for anyone who wants to know the whole picture right up front. You are some one who will take care of their needs and that's why we already have told several people at work and friends and family.

It was a pleasure meeting you and doing business with you.

Sincerely, R. & J. Thomas, Chicago

Success Story

Janice’s Story

For Janice, that meant:
  1. pay off the credit cards - but keep the accounts open to benefit her credit score and for any possible emergency.
  2. Buy a reliable new car - with a warranty (so she wouldn’t have to use credit cards to get repairs) paid in full, so no monthly payments.
  3. Deposit a cash buffer into a savings account & start saving again.
  4. Guidance to repair her credit as quickly as possible so that she would easily qualify for any type of credit in the future.
  5. A payment that not only fit into her monthly budget but also left something to grow her savings every month.

I was able to empower her to break the downward spiral, to raise herself up and feel respectable again. By being careful and responsible all those years, she did this for herself, I just helped her cover the last few feet to the finish line.
